SCX Rail gets live tracking

Thanks to a fortuitous find on the internet, SCX Rail now has live tracking and logging for TrainSim!

ThirdRail's MapTool is an awesome addon to TrainSim Classic.  It gives you real-time tracking on a scalable map, as well as 'publishing' your ride to their Online Radar which also has the ability to filter by a custom Tag.  I'll setup a Southern Charter Tag, and publish a tutorial on using the system in the near future.

SCX African Adventure

In the next month or so Southern Charter expects to announce charter operations in Africa as part of a customer contract to support a large deployment of personnel and equipment into the region.

In preparation for the deployment a programme of route clearance flights are scheduled in Africa, to both primary locations for our intended operations as well as to airfields to be used as divert or alternates.

Field suitability trials will follow once the scope of in-country operations is shared by the customer.
This deployment will incorporate Air and Sea assets, with the possibility of limited ground transport, depending on the customer's need.

So... might pay to pack for a warm climate, and get those vaccinations up to date....

SCX Embassy Courier - Europe

SCX recently won a contract to provide a courier service for personnel and material between selected
Embassies in Europe.

This mission is to be kept low-key due to the possibly sensitive nature of the passengers and/or cargo Any aircraft from corporate jet through to airliner is acceptable for the courier, but with the nature of the mission, anonymously marked aircraft are preferred and recommended.

Parking at remote or cargo ramps is recommended, Embassy agents will meet you at each airport with relevant ground equipment.

Agents will provide Air-Way-Bills for each 'cargo', thought he details will be very generic in nature.

Weight information however will be accurate.

Passenger details will be minimal.

Good luck!

Check out the Achievement page below for more details

Hub Profile: Mitiga (HLLM)

SCX first used Mitiga in Libya in a deployment in December 2022.  Local area transport mission from Mitiga covered most of Libya, with long haul support from our hubs at Heathrow in the UK and Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE.

Mitiga has a long and interesting history, being used as a military base during WWII, then by the USAF and Italian Air Force during the cold war.  You can read more of the history in this wiki article

SCX has a pilot achievement for visiting Mitiga, which is open to any pilot to complete.

To complete the achievement arrive at Mitiga from anywhere 100NM or further away.

Charts for HLLM are available online via the Libyan AIP, or Navigraph Charts (with a subscription)
FSHub has a page on HLLM with data on arrivals and departures plus a link to the the AIP chart linked above.  Useful note; FSHub has useful data on all airfields, just use the 'search' box at the top of any FSHub page.

There is an ulterior motive for posting this....  we have a customer who is looking for transport support in Africa in the next few months, and Mitiga is likely to be our staging location for these ops.

This month also saw the launch of our own domain, southerncharter.net and more development of this webpage. In the process of building the web presence we are looking for screenshots to use on the various web pages, everyone is encouraged to submit images which portray what we do here at Southern Charter!

Resources Page

One item which has come up in discussions around the new website is a download area for repaints, scenery, paint kits and developer resources. The first uploads should be live in the next week, covering developer items; SCX 'Branding' kit for repainters, and some scenery developer resources. As time goes on the hope is to expand this section.
We also need a much *cooler* name for the downloads page... suggestions?

SCX Shipping Bringing Aid to Mexico

Southern Charter has been involved in a major logistics operation in support of humanitarian support agency IDAP.
IDAP recently started Aid Operations in Mexico, and required a significant amount of support equipment and supplies to obe moved from their base in Texas to their operating base in Mexico.
Southern Charter assisted with road transport and sea freight to move a huge shipment to Mexico at relatively short notice.

The partnership with IDAP extends to all parts of SCX's capabilities, and is expected to grow based on the success of this operation.
